About the event

Step back in time and explore Mandurah’s fascinating past on a guided heritage walk of the CBD.

Join our Museum staff and volunteers for a walking tour through the heart of Mandurah, discovering the people, places and stories that helped shape the city we know today. Along the way you’ll hear tales of early industries, maritime life, wartime experiences, colourful local characters and the growth of Mandurah as a popular holiday destination.

Each walk focuses on a different theme, offering participants a chance to discover something new every time, including:

  • Industry– Discover the working life of early Mandurah, from fishing and boat building to local businesses that helped the town grow.
  • Maritime– Learn about Mandurah’s deep connection to the water, from early fishing and canning to the beginning of the recreational fishing that we know today.
  • Home and Family– Explore what daily life was like for Mandurah’s early residents and how families built their lives in the town.
  • Wartime– Hear stories of Mandurah during times of conflict and the local people who served their community and country.
  • Tourism– Follow the transformation of Mandurah into one of Western Australia’s most loved holiday destinations.
  • Larrikins and Legends–Hear tales of some of Mandurah’s most colourful characters and their entertaining stories which have become part of local folklore.

Walks depart from Mandurah Museum, 3 Pinjarra Road at 11am and return to the Museum at the conclusion of the tour.
