Closed cemetery since December 1985. New burials are not permitted unless they have been pre-approved by the State.

Burials
Burials are carried out by a funeral director who will arrange every aspect of the burial service for the family and liaise with the City of Mandurah for burial location, date and time.

Grant of right of burial
Any person may purchase the rights to a site at the Lakes Lawn Cemetery. Upon purchase, a ‘Grant of Right of Burial’ certificate is issued for 25 years, giving the grant holder the authority to apply for burials, place ashes and/or install plaques on the site. The Grant Holder is the only person authorised to approve any works on the site.
A current and valid grant is required before any works can be undertaken.
Ashes
Various options for interment of ashes are available at the Lakes Lawn Cemetery:
- Ground niche sites
- Wall niche sites
- Burial plots - which can have both burials and ashes interments
Single and double sites are available. The City of Mandurah also offers a reservation of sites if required.
Memorial plaques only
The Lakes Lawn Cemetery offers the kerbing around Banksia Lake for placement of memorial oval plaques. This is available for customers who wish to remember a loved one without an interment.
The City of Mandurah also manages the Zonta Missing Persons Memorial Wall, and families wishing to add a plaque in honour of a loved one can contact the City for guidance on the application process.
Plaques
Families wishing to arrange for the placement of a bronze plaque are required to complete the City’s ‘Application for Approval to Erect a Plaque’ and pay the prescribed placement fee. Once City approval has been granted families are requested to liaise with a plaque company of their choice to arrange for the ordering and delivery of the bronze plaque.
All plaques placed within the Lakes Lawn Cemetery must adhere to strict guidelines.
