Understanding Local Laws

  • What are they? Local laws are subsidiary legislation created by the City under powers granted by the Local Government Act 1995, the Health Act 1911, and various other Acts.
  • Why do we have them? They allow us to regulate activities within Mandurah’s boundaries to meet the specific needs of our community and promote good government.
  • How are they enforced? The City authorises specific officers to ensure these laws are followed for the benefit of all residents.
  • Need more info? If you have questions about how local laws are made or managed, please contact Governance Services on 9550 3777.
